Finland’s Independence Day and 2nd Advent

Hi dear friends! Happy 2nd Advent and Happy Independence Day Finland!

Today, 6th of December is a special day in my home country, Finland because it celebrates Independence Day, Congratulations, Finland!

In the evening, 6 o’clock, everyone lights a candle on the window and all those dark windows with candle light is a beautiful scene. Even the big office buildings follow this tradition (used to a least; I hope they still do).

In the evening we watch in tv the celebration from the Castle of President and enjoy the gorgeus evening dresses!

I have add few things to my Christmas corner …

Dala Horse pillow fits well with the Scandinavian style and my two wooden Dala horses. Dala Horse pattern is from Julianna.

Yesterday, again few days late (shame on me) I turned the page on my most favourite Susan Branch wall calendar.

It is ‘eatable’ beautiful! Every page is cute and sweet and filled with little, adorable things…

And lucky me, I have again Moomins Christmas calendar! Those little creatures surely cheers us up!

Do you read Anna’s Christmas calendar? If not, I suggest you pay a visit! You will love it and can’t wait the next day! Anna is a little mouse who lives in Riverland.

You may have now guessed what I shall show you next time. See you soon!

I wish you pieceful and beautiful Sunday!

  6. Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää päivän myöhässä !! Taidan arvat mitä on seuraavassa postissa,ja jos se on se mitä luulen niin näyttää todella hyvältä! Hyvää viikkoa! x Anneli

  7. Moomins!!!!!!!!!! LUV!!!!!! A belated Happy Independence Day, too! Your post has such a pristine freshness that just sparkles with the season! Yesterday, as the second Advent candle was lit at church, I found it difficult to grasp how quickly the days/year has passed. I look out my window at green grass (and Fall-plowed fields) and am amazed at the absence of the “whiteness” that normally accompanies these days in December. Thanks for sharing your corner of the world with me. Love the Dalas, too. Hugs…………………………………….

    • Thank you Doreen for your sweet words! It is unbelievable how quickly time pass. Is it because we are always so busy with quiltign etc. Hundreds of things in our mind. Should we slow down? And then what… sit and look the clock going slowly. No, let us be busy. I’m making now baby quilt and hopw to finish it in few days! Do you miss snow or shall we hope that it won’t snow? Hugs! x Teje

      • I think it would be very nice to see a white landscape for the season but the temperatures are forecast for enough warmth to be more ice than snow, so I guess we will continue to enjoy this brief interlude of “December green”!!! Hugs comin’ back……..

Voin kuvitella etta puu hevonen tuntui mukavalta koiran hampaissa! Terveisin Teje

  9. Hello Teje,

It looks so beautiful at yours, that quilt is nappisuoritus 🙂 just tohon (ei irtonnnut näin aamusta enkuksi), and all the lights and decoration… so festive&Christmassy! And red&white are the perfect combo. Happy belated birthday to our beloved home-country too.

Happy new week, dear friend, many greetings from rainy (!!) Finland!

I would love to hear from you! If you have a moment, please leave a message!
