Hello dear friends! I’m happy to welcome you to my Bag Post! You love bags like I do, right?! Here is my new “2 in 1” Tote Bag!
If you like, you can imagine me sitting here, but notice the coat … it’s quite cold and I was just quick enought to catch some sunlight for my photos, before it started to rain.
I think you know me well enough to know that I like practical things. And I think most of us prefer shoulder bags … but if you have too many things in your bag, it’s better to carry it in your hand …
I bought this gobelin fabric long time ago from Stockman in Helsinki and first I made ‘jean jacket’ with it. So sorry to say that I stupidly got rid of the jacket (could have used the fabric). Later I made simple tote bag from the rest of the fabric … but I didn’t use it much. It was always in my mind to re-make it. Now I was desperate enough to get new bag and bag to match for my winter coat.
I took the old straps and green lining away. I made new lining with more lightful lining (I like to see what I have in my bag). I made 1 pocket on the one side and 1 wide pocket on the other side which I shared in two. I made the ‘single’ pocket double (closed pouch) to be steady. The ‘double’ pocket I made with plain fabric not to give more wight to my bag. I sew the lining circle and put the seam in the middle not to have too many layers on the side, where the straps will be.
Fortunately my eye catched a basket with old belts and there was this perfect beige belt. I chose to use wooden rings (curtain rings) – I like how they match with the colous and are natural material. From the old straps I made loops for the rings and the short straps to carry the bag. My hb gave me great idea to make loops to hide the stitching on the shoulder strap. For those I used also the old straps.
This bag is practical inside. With 3 pockets it’s easy to keep my things in order – I like order. Only thing missing is zipper. I was thinking to add it with panels but then I couldn’t hide the short straps inside, so I leave this bag without zipper.
With this bag I’m thinking to use one large zipper pouch, which can be easily changed to an other bag. Phone and keys can be in the pockets to be catched easily.
In fact I have still piece of this wonderful fabric and could make large pouch to use inside of the bag.
I’m so happy to change my favourite bag for this ‘new favourite’! If you haven’t seen ‘My Favourite Bag’, you can see it with tutorial HERE! You can see from the date that it is really practican and favourite bag, because I’m still using it!
This is not my first ‘2 in 1’ ! Have you seen my ‘2 in 1 Make-Up Bag’? If you like to make one, HERE is my tutorial.
My idea for this bag was to keep my make-ups in this fabric ‘box’ in the bathroom and when travelling, just take the bag with me. Works well! And I have an other bag for my laptop’s things (cable, outside memory, mouse) and one for my crochet project.
