Hello! It’s the year of green – Pantone’s colour of 2013 is Emerald! Emerald … Smaragd … Green …
There is Emerald {a mosaic contest} going on … with fabrics!!! Jippiii – I love this contest!!! Dear Rachel from ‘Stitched in Color’ is hosting this great contest and it’s sponsored by wonderful ‘Fat Quarter Shop’!
Above you see what adorable fabrics I have chosen from the ‘Fat Quarter Shop’! I love my mosaic and I wish wish wish I win! Always when making a fabric mosaic, I have a quilt in my mind. There are different greens from emerald to lime, dark and light and few drops purple, brown and blue to brake the monotony.
To enter this contest, visit ‘Stitched in Color’ to see all the details. By Rachel’s words: “Choose fabrics to express your interpretation of Emerald for fabric lovers!” Make a mosaic with mosaic maker (I use Big Huge Labs) and add your fabric-mosaic till 15th of January in the collection at ‘Stitched in Color’.
I had a little bit {green thinking} … I like to use green in quilting and sewing … it’s a great colour to mix with almost any other colours …
I don’t wear much green … or do I? If I look out from my window, there is sooooo much green this time of the year …
I never get tired to watch that green between the stones … my favourite ceramic pot on a wooden box … green in the rain …
How I ever thought that green is not my colour … where ever I look, I see green …
In my bathroom green cat on the wall … my dear crab bag … sweet, warm Finnish home shoes … ufo-knitting from decades ago …
I guess green is my colour … like so many other colours! Green is so soft … so interesting … so exiting … so tasty …
I had a little bit {green searching} … how it is exactly this Emerald? I thought it could be more like ‘petrol’ but it’s very ‘green’! If you like to learn more about Emerald, visit Pantone … to see more Emerald, visit Pantone’s Pinterest … or to read more about colours, visit Pantone’s blog!
There is green in my quilting. I could have finished this but yesterday I ‘had’ to make something else. Perhaps you can guess from one of the mosaics? I do love colours and I enjoy colour-catalogues! Can you choose your favourite green?
Emerald is {I 9} in the middle. I think I would choose Chloe or Mint … or Olive … or Green Apple … fortunately I don’t have to choose!
Thank you for joining me today! I hope you like green and if you make your mosaic – Good Luck! Sunny and very green wishes from Crete!

A few years ago my husband had a look at my clothes and he was a bit in shock; all he saw was jeans and green sweaters and shirts. Ever since I try to wear other colours, but it is still my colour of comfort. And that is exactly the feeling I got from your story, and especially your pictures today. Thank you!

Hi Teje, what a lovely green post. Green is one of my favourite colours. I like the spring or forest green best from those samples. I also have lots of green in my home, my hall, dining room and bedroom carpets are all green. Enjoy your lovely greeness outside too. It’s so lovely to see.

Oooo I’m with you, I’d choose Chloe too. I like lime greens. In my old house my living room was lime green. Lime greens often looks so juicy I want to lick them to see if they taste like lime too!! I can’t help it… I’m a bit strange lol!!

Lovely mosaics Teje! I love green too but, like you, I don’t wear it often. I have just quilted a green top which has lots of shades of green in it. My favourite green shade on your card would be “meadow” because it reminds me of the fresh greens in springtime (looking forward to spring) but my eye is always attracted to the left and the blues
Thank you for this very uplifting post!! Have a lovely week

Beautiful greens! And you have quite a lot around you (other than beautiful green outside too), I just took a look and we have almost no green at all in our house (and outside…buahhaaahhhah)! It’s definitely a colors for spring and summer and your quilt looks beautiful.
Happy new week soon, dear friend!
Yours,
Mia

Thank you Mia! It’s everywhere so green this time! Only on the mountains it’s all white and they are so beautiful when sun is making them shiny! I know how white and black your view is now. Perhaps that’s the reason, you use so much wonderful colours in your work! Have a great week, dear friend! x Teje

Wonderful mosaic, Teje! You’ve chosen some lovely green fabrics and I wish you luck on winning them.
Wow. So many gorgeous greens around you. ;o) Green has such a soothing quality to it. One of my favourite values of green is the colour of new foliage in the first blush of spring – to me it is the colour of promises (promises of beauty yet to be revealed! ).

Thank you Katherine! I like to make these fabric mosaics. Some greens I like very much and some greens not. It’s always great to mix them with other colours. x Teje
